Our Inspired Team Members are the heart of AIDA. Whether you are teaching a class, leading an Arts Adventure, supporting a program, or helping behind the scenes, every member of our team plays an important role in creating the AIDA experience.

We are looking for dependable, enthusiastic, professional individuals who genuinely enjoy working with children and families and who believe in the power of the arts to build creativity, confidence, and community.

 

Our Teaching Philosophy

AIDA is a non-competitive organization focused on the creative arts and we are intentional about building a team that understands and embraces this philosophy.

Our programs are designed to provide children with a safe, comfortable, nurturing environment where they can explore the arts, develop skills, build confidence, and enjoy being a kid.

 

We believe:

• Every child deserves the opportunity to shine.

• Children should be encouraged to grow at their own pace.

• Instruction should be developmentally appropriate for the age and ability of the students.

• Music, movement, choreography, costuming, and classroom expectations should be appropriate for the children we serve.

• Positive encouragement is more effective than criticism, comparison, or pressure.

• Our classrooms should be welcoming to students of varying abilities and experience levels.

• Teachers are role models, not simply instructors.

• The experience a child has in our classroom matters just as much as the skills they learn.

 

Competition, perfection, appearance, and pushing children beyond what is developmentally appropriate are not the focus of our programs.  We believe strongly in a solid foundation, but our approach is kindness, grace and creating an environment where students of all levels can thrive.

Locations 

 

AIDA operates in two locations. 

​

Fuquay-Varina 118 E Jones St. Downtown behind Town Hall

Our Fuquay location offers a variety of dance styles, drama, art, camps, special events and more.  It is also home to Aspire! Performance Ensemble, which provides students who want a more intensive performance experience with additional opportunities for training, performance, community outreach, and growth. Aspire is an extension of our AIDA family, but it serves a different purpose from our Creative Arts programs.

Lillington 29 W. Front St. Downtown 

AIDA Center for Creative Arts is our newest second location that will offer beginning dance classes, drama, art, music and more focusing primarily on our Creative Arts Programs.

We are always looking for qualified, professional instructors in a variety of ages and styles. Instructors should have appropriate training and/or experience in their area of instruction as well as experience working with children whenever possible.

Studio Support

Our Studio Support team assists with teachers, programs, the boutique, office tasks, cleaning, maintenance, events, and other behind-the-scenes needs that keep AIDA running smoothly.

 

Arts Adventure Counselor

Our Arts Adventure Counselors help create a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment for children during camps and school-break programs. Counselors should enjoy working with children, be dependable and energetic, and be comfortable participating in a variety of creative activities.

 

Before You Apply

Please read the information above carefully before submitting an application. We are looking for individuals who are a good fit for both the position and the AIDA philosophy.

 

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old.

• Submit a complete application.

• Include a cover letter, CV/resume, and references.

• Include samples of work for instructor positions when applicable.

• Be able to successfully complete a background check.

• Be willing to complete a 90-day probationary period.

• 1099 instructors will be required to provide proof of insurance

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

 

Instructor Candidates

​

• Dance/Drama/Theater Instructor candidates may be asked to: Submit video of previous choreography, teaching, or performance for review.

• Teach two trial classes prior to receiving a job offer. If a position is offered, compensation for the trial classes will be included in the candidate's first paycheck.

• Demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate instruction and AIDA's teaching philosophy.

• Must have a background in child development, teaching, working towards a degree in this field or relevant experience..  Our instructors should know how to teach as importantly as what they teach.

 

Training Requirements

​

All new hires are subject to a background check and a 90-day probationary period.

 

Compensation

Compensation varies based on position, experience, education, training, and qualifications.

 

A Note to Prospective Team Members

AIDA is more than a place to teach a class. We are a community.

If you are looking for a place where children can develop skills while also building confidence, creativity, friendships, and a lifelong love of the arts, we would love to hear from you.

If you are primarily looking for a place to build a competitive résumé, recruit students, or teach according to a highly competitive studio model, AIDA is not be the right fit.
